Our sv8500 has dual CPU and S3 software.
All of sudden CPU "0" becomes faulty, We can NOT login to the pbx nor the cpu will boot.
I switched off the cpu and and after about a minut I switced back on...Immediately the ONLINE led turn on "steady", the cpu does not boot.
the pbx is working using the other cpu.
Our problem is we can not login to the pbx neither by Lan2 nor by COM port in the IO card.
we always get this message "login failed(activation code certificate T.O. One shot password not assigned) "
any one can help
thanks

I have an SV8500 with dual CPU-s. While I never had the same problem as you with the CPU, occasionally I run into the same login problem you have: I can't access the system and get the same error message you describe. When I hit that, I just keep trying to log in, and eventually, after about 4-8 re-tries, I'm in. This happens maybe once in every 2 weeks. I do log in to the pbx pretty much daily, so I'm fairly used to it...

I'm going to assume when you "shutdown" the inactive CPU that you just powered it down and did not use SINZ to shut it down? This can cause corruption and issues with SIP servers and internal ACD if you have either.

Do you have a copy of the 2400 IPX registration wizard?? (it should be on the 8500 DVD software disk that came with the 8500, if not it is on the NEC FTP site, it is NOT on the NECNTAC site.)

You can re-register the 8500 CPU with this and log in with 8500 PcPro.

Here's the deal:

You should not only back up your 8500 by using PcPro Tools to back up your DATABASE and your LICENSES (.SVI file), you should at least 2 or 3 times a year use SINZ to shutown one of your CPU's and use the USB compact flash tool to make an ISO of the compact flash card as well. This is the crap they never mention, but then are amazed you've never done when you run into this crap.

Here's the backup procedure I use:

1. BKUPI (MEM to HDD) - every time I make a significant change or at least once a week.

2. PcPro Tools - once a month or after any licenses added. Run the office data backup AND the license back up (creates 2 seperate .zip files

3. Use USB Compact Flash tool - at least every 6 months make an ISO of one of the CF Drives.

Also S3 is pretty old software isn't it? 6.0 is out now.

thank you for your comment.
please note that I had to power off the cpu mainly because I was not able to login to the PBX as in my first post.
Here is my BIG question: why can't I login to the pbx when one cpu is NOT working???
ok my pbx is working using the other working CPU, but the PCPRO can NEVER be used. Is this a bug in the PBX?

With 3.0 NTAC is going to want that upgraded before they do pretty much anything.

you can connect with the system by LAN1 on active CPU but you need to change port on the account from 60000 to 60060
