I have a problem with incoming calls being answered after 2 rings. I am guessing that it might be the voicemail answering, but the caller hears a weak fax-like tone. Its not a fax, because it is constant (no handshakeing) The call may be answered live if picked up before the squeel. I just added a 408 module and the 2 lines on the new module have the problem. the 6 lines on the original 2 modules are fine.
Thanks for any help.

In every instance of this problem it was always caused by an alarm modem, computer modem or fax machine on the line someplace. Try swapping the new lines with the old ones and see if the problem follows.

I solved the problem by removing the MLM 007 voicemail module. The customer didn't really want it anyway. I now have questions: Does the 007 have to be in the last slot. Did I have a problem because I did not run the slot recognition program after adding the 408 card (I didn't find that program until after removing the 007).
Thanks

The 007 can be in any slot, but you should never shuffle slots once the system is up and running. New cards should be added at the end of the existing cards, and then a board renumber should be done so that the system will recognize properly.

The 007 card has a modem in it, on the 8th port. That extension may have had the line assigned to it, with immediate or delayed ring, and that was what was answering.
