Hello all, We are having a problem with our NEC Elite IPK. It seems to randomly initialize itself. Without any warning (and so far only when the system is idle) all the displays on all the phones will blank, the phones become unresponsive and then after a short time the system seems to re-boot and everything is fine. This has been happening about two or three times a day for years (since we've had it).

Here is what we have:

B64-U30 KSU
CPUI 300-U20
MUFM U10
COIB4-U30
ESIB8-U10 (two of these)

When we push feature-3 for version info we get:

SP 1013 R 3.02
Keysys R3 48P

We use the SAT s/w with a PC to program the system.

We went to the extreme this week and turned the system off, unplugged the batteries on the CPU and MIFM boards, waited about 10 minutes, plugged the batteries back in, turned the power on, established a connection with our PC using the SAT software, did a first and second initialization. At this point the ONLY thing we programmed was to allow all 10 phones to ring for both lines we have coming into the office. We assumed that returning to this most basic state would have solved the problem but it did not, within a few hours the system reset itself again.

Does anybody have any suggestions? This is driving us nuts !

Thanks,
- Bill

Try setting the System Refresh Time Assignment to a longer setting or to none.

Thanks very much. I reviewed that command in the manual and it sounds like exactly what I need to do.

Is there any downside to programming "none"?

Don't ask why but when I went to class for basic certification on the IPK the first think they told us was set the refresh time to none.

That sounds good to me, "none" it will be !

I can't believe I missed that in the IPK manual, I must have looked through it a dozen times.

It would be nice to know what NEC was thinking and what any advantage might be to have this default to every 4 hours. Does anybody know?

Thanks very much,
- Bill
