Can the SVMi bd. on a iDCS100 system be configured to act like a typical answering machine on an incoming CO line? If so, how is that accomplished? Thanks.

Sure it can and there are different ways to do it.Probably want it to ring first then overflow it to a mailbox.Do you have access to the phone and the SVMi programming as you will need to do some on both.

Thanks. Yes I do have access. We have a spare phone in our new office that just so happens to be station 201. No one is assigned to this phone so I guess we could use its mailbox as the 'global' answering machine. Is that how you would set it up? What MMC pgms are used to accomplish this?

you would need to know what phones ring on incoming could be a group or a single phone if a group eg 500 put overflow to answer after say 15 seconds then in next port put voicemail group eg 549 then you need to make a voicemail no 500 if its the group then make a key vg500 on the phone then last of all put a message on vg 500

Thanks pvi. Gerrya had some good advice but some of his steps alluded me. Such as which MMC's to possibly use, etc. He mentions using a voicemail group with a number that is outside the allowable port number range on my system. My programming manual lists the voicemail group as '529' but in MMC 601, it will only allow me to enter up to '519'. Thanks for any help.

Correct 519 is default for the voicemail on the OS100.I think release 1 software had up to 529 and release 2 software had up to 519. What I would do is ring calls in to a group (say 501) then have that overflow to the voicemail group after xxx seconds. At that point you could have the call roll into the 501 mailbox and take a message then have a message waiting key for 501 on another phone(s).Like I said there are different ways of doing what you're asking, above is 1 example of a simple solution.I wouldn't use the 201 mailbox in case someone wants to have that in the future.
