The company I work for is replacing a elevator emergency phone due to it going off hook and dialing 911 randomly. They want to get their security & fire vendor to connect, replace it, and monitor it. My question is do fire & security companies replace the hardware and do the monitoring both? I'd guess they would do the monitoring via a new dialer in the elevator for a fee but not sure if your industry does the hardware and connections too? I was looking at Viking K 1600 models as a replacement and would like to hear any and all information, pro or con, on what to use and how to set it up. The local PD does NOT wish for the elevator to call 911.
Thanks in advance. Bob

I haven't seen any monitoring companies that provide equipment, that is normally up to the security or FA installation company. So you would be on the right track with the Viking though I would first check with the elevator company to see if they have anything specifically for that elevator control panel. Often it would be a Viking or Valcom with a custom front plate to fit the panel. Once you get it installed with a dedicated POTS line program it to dial the monitoring company which should be there 24 hours. You might also want to check with your local elevator inspector to see whether they will allow POTS supplied by a cable modem or an ONT like FiOS instead of copper (if that's an issue).
