I have a Samsung 7100 that I put a MW510 key at and when a message is left in mbox 510 the lamp does not light. when I press the key I go go to mailbox 510. i have deleted and recreated and deleted the key and put it back on different key. if a message is left at the ext the vmmsg lights any ideas on what else to look at?

Make sure the message waiting indicator is turned on in the mailbox block for that mailbox.

Assuming the box 510 is not the extension but 510 is a departmental or general mailbox you want to light on this phone... an MW key is for a message waiting light for an external extension.
Therefore, in Numbering Plan, go to cabinet 2 and renumber your first Virtual Analog Port 510 and then the MW 510 key should light on that phone now.

Make sure the VM has the correct extension paired with the mailbox, and that the MWI settings are correct in the mailbox block (both what intouch1 says, and the setting that the mailbox has a MWI and what its extension is).
MW keys can be used for any local mailbox (they don't work across SPNET with centralised VM).
If 510 is a group and the extension is a member of the group you could try a VG key

This has been a problem since the late 500/100's. Its always hit or miss what systems it affects. Last week i did 4 7030's and 2 of them had the issue. It only does it when you use a group number as a mailbox, so we auto forward the message to a virtual mailbox and the MW key will work (ie 3501). If i looked hard enough i could probably find 50 tickets we have opened with samsung on this and none of them were ever resolved, they just said they were unable to duplicate.

Maybe just use MMC724 to change the number and be done with it.

Thank you to all for your response and suggestions. I was using a station group as a single digit option from the auto att. while all other functions appeared fine, to set a message light from a mailbox that is a station group....there must be a member in the group whether you ring the group or not. Thank you again for your assistance.
