Can anyone tell me which PBXs are capable of sending not only a caller ID number ( i.e. the extension doing the calling, or a "spoofed" number) but also Caller ID Text/Name?
Is this the proper place to post this topic?
Thanks,

None. The account holder's name through the service provider can't be altered. While these service providers might be able to provide some flexibility in name delivery in shared-tenant situations, it is not legal for the calling name to be modified beyond that.
The outgoing number can be altered by nearly every system on the market these days when using a PRI, however service providers don't allow outgoing numbers to be sent that aren't associated with the account (i.e: DID blocks). "Spoofing" was shut down a few years ago by the FCC for obvious reasons.
No telephone system can alter calling name information.

Ed,
Thanks for the quick reply. One detail I left out ( might not change much..) = We have a direct fiber to the Long Distance Carrier's POP, and they told us they will transmit "whatever we send them".
Doesn't this mean our PBX is( technically ) in the same position as a service provider's switch?
But if no PBX can actually send a Caller ID Name, then even that wouldn't matter...
Anyway, Thanks for the info...
