Hello, I'm having trouble with the keymaps.
For this older model phone, the 4400, I'm trying to set the keymap for this model. It keeps defaulting to the 8600. I select "axxess basic keymap" then set it up. I save the database but when I open it back up the basic keymap isn't selected anymore.
It defaults to the 8600.

Anybody know what's going on here? Is this phone incompatible? The "basic keymap" looks identical to the buttons on the 4400, but it won't stay selected. Also, I tried to block calls by using a password for that phone, but nothing seems to work. I can put in any 4 numbers and it says password accepted. Even though I've set it in the extension list for that particular extension.

Thanks for any help in advance.

The kemap view type has nothing to do w/ what type of fone is using the keymap. It is a programming aid only, to simplify your programming experience. If you select 'Standard Keymap', and double-click the map, you will see a map that looks roughly like the 550.4400 fone. Once you program the keys, yer done.

When you say you are trying to 'block calls by using a password' do you mean account codes? If so, you have to create verified account codes to be able to restrict what codes are valid.

I'm looking at "standard keymap" and it's similar, but the "basic keymap" is identical to the phone's buttons. So how would I disable the speed dial buttons on the 4400 if I'm using a keymap that doesn't show them??

Thanks!

You don't use that keymap. Use only the map you need. Remember, you are not telling the fone system what style of fone you are using, you are only making the key programming window look the same as the fone you want to program.

Where do I do this?
Where in the programming tree??
And also, where do I set up the password in the programming tree?

Thanks for the help!

Could you be a tad more specific?
There are a LOT of things in the devices and feature codes part of the tree!

Thanks!
