In honor of Mr. Steven G. Mihaylo, Inter-Tel's Founder and CEO since 1969. Mr. Mihaylo resigned his position as CEO on Wednesday after almost 37 years leading the Company's global growth to 2100 employees and annual revenues of $500,000,000. He maintains a position on the Board of Directors.

Wow. Ive heard rumors that his was going to happen. Good for him.
The book "Against the Odds" Inter-Tel The first 30 years, is actually an interesting read. Mr. Mihaylo would also personally sign a birthday card for EVERY employee. For those that didnt know.

Well, I'm not so sure this falls under the category of "good for him". According to rumor (see the Yahoo Finance Inter-Tel Message Board) his resignation came at the request of Inter-Tel's Board of Directors. If this is true, I am stunned! Obviously, they had their reasons, but sounds rather harsh to me. The man founded and successfully ran the company for all these years. As a side note, apparantly his stock holdings were down to only 20% of the company. This is also courtesy of several postings on the Yahoo Finance Inter-Tel Message Board.
I agree, the book was great! Mr. Mihaylo and Inter-Tel have been quite an inspiration to me since first becoming an authorized Inter-Tel dealer in 1985.
The personalized birthday card routine was quite unique! I had known about it for some time. But, then read in the book that his personal assistant would at times suggest that perhaps the company, having so many employees, had outgrown this personal touch. However, he would not entertain, for one moment, the idea of stopping!

If INTL would have spent their time developing their IP solution instead of worrying about the secondary market INTL would be a billion dollar company. 100 IP ports- they missed site of the true voIP Enterprise solutions.

Yes, his book was a good read and yes he would send a birthday card, I worked at Inter-tel for 4 years and while once or twice it was a day or two late, I was still impressed.
