Anybody have any suggestions on a simple door phone that runs off of an analog port? I googled and looked at the Bogen ADP-1 and the Adtran ADP-40. Has anyone used either of these two products before, any input good or bad? Any other recommendations?

If it was built after 1980 don't expect it to work right.

One of my distributors. Capitol Sales sells this one.

I have not used it.

With all the variables involved, I am amazed when any voice and data technology works like it is supposed to.

Thanks guys. Customer currently has a Valcom door phone (V1024, I think) running off of a Valcom V-2900 controller connected to a CO port on the phone system. He's had to replace the door phone several times over the years and lately has had to replace the controller. I figured this solution could simplify it for him.

Avaya's analog doorphone is a re-badged Bogen ADP-1.

Well, if the doorphone is out exposed to the wheather or where it gets wet you have to expect that. It also helps if whoever installs it takes care to seal around it. Viking does make an environmentally treated version of most to their doorphones for $$$ more but I find just replacing them is cheaper. I have no idea why the controller would fail though unless lightning got it. I really don't think switching to something else is going to help you. Also keep in mind that those Partner doorphones recommended work with analog ringdown EXTENSIONS. That's why you need the controller to work with a CO port.

And both Viking and Bogen made doorphones for Avaya. Valcom still makes the original that was made by Harris. Worth the few extra bucks.

He's fully aware that he will more than likely have to replace the door phone every so often since it is exposed. It was replacing the controller that brought up the discussion of a different, simplified solution.
