Gotta get the SVMi-20i to get the SSL support, unfortunately. That or you have to set up some kind of intermediary mail relay to take in the emails from the 20E and retransmit them to gmail. But that gets sticky, too.

Check Gmail's support pages. They provide a way to send emails without using SSL or encryption. It's provided to allow printers and other devices to send emails, but works great in this application as well.

Another option is to setup a local smtp relay on a machine.

I had todo this until samsung fixed the issue with email gateway and a non-local smtp gateway on the os7100/7030

It seems counter productive to do this when the customer's email server is onsite but.. I've never found an ISP that doesn't run an SMTP server for customers to use. Just point your SVMi at the customer's ISP's server and let it take care of the rest. After all, that's probably what you'd do if the customer didn't run their own email server. It gets you a working system, and if it bugs the IT guys, it gives them motivation to fix their stuff.

You know.. that guy.. with the thing.

With the exchange server, all you need to do is set the ip for the server. If it is internally on their network then set the internal ip in email gateway. Put in the correct port and no account login information. This will work, it is how I setup a system here with an exchange server.

Nameless,

What local smtp relay do you use? How many have you set up this way?

I just googled (or looked on cnet/tucows) for a free smtp server and came across mail enable.

Setup a few OS7100 MP10's and OS7030's until samsung fixed the problem in 4.30L

Used it once to prove to the it guy that his exchange server was the cause of the 20mb file not getting through (customer recorded a 20min conversation)
