My last post talked about problems with our system 'locking up' and reverting back to an arbitrary set-up. It was also not advancing the date and time on the station displays. Following you all's advice, I ordered a replacement power supply as well as a new memory cap. Two weeks ago I came in on saturday and replaced eatch of these items. I did a good, clean, careful repair job. I reprogrammed the system and everything was wonderful.I waited about 5 minutes to check the time advance. All was right on. Low and behold, on last friday the system screwed up. Before when this happened, the stations would display: ver ## and an old date from like 2002 or something and nothing would work. It would also loose its country setting. This time however, the system recognizes the stations, gives them numbers and even assigns CO lines. But my custom programming is not present. No external paging,no station names, the wrong stations ringing on incoming calls, etc. What is going on? Also can you re-educate me on the correct settings for the memory switch on the MEM3 bd. When it should be on or off. And also when the reset button should be used. Thanks

Its clearly dumping it's memory. Might be worth upgrading the Processor to an MCP1, this has a LAN connection, so you can save the config and upload in a matter of minutes.

Mem switch should always be ON. Yous can press the reset button it only resets the system. Shouldn't dump the memory unless held in for over 20 seconds or so(although never tried or its been some years since i last did)

Trouble is the products you are replacing are EOL, so you will always be dealing with second hand kit, maybe worth considering an upgrade. Just my humble opinion.

You need a new super cap on your mem card.

Thanks T.C. Since your post, the system once has 'locked-up'(i.e. MEM3 LED constant on,ver # and old date in display)and this is with a repl pwr supply. However when reset,my pgms did reload, so my memory cap repl.must be OK. But what do you think caused the system to lock-up. Also you recommended an MCP1 bd. What is the difference/advantage of an MCP1 bd. vs. a MEM4 bd.Thank you.

MCP1 would convert your system to the OS100 the only advantage i can think of against the MEM 4 if i remember rightly you can use the extra slot in the exp cab if your using PRI or SVMI8.

Obviously its also an upgrade in software level.

The most common problem for locking up is a power supply on its way out.

You have changed the PSU, however as these would be refurb units its hard to say the type of life they have had.

It sounds like a power supply.Check the capacitors C32 and C38 .What voltage are they rated at? The original power supplies had 10V Caps and they would go bad bulging at the tops. The repair was to replace them with 16V Caps although they may still go bad eventually deopending on the system load.
the version 2.2 and old date from 2002 was the firmware version on the telephones themselves not the system. You will see that whenever the system reboots or is locked up and can't boot.
