HELP!
A mailbox was deleted while someone was on vacation - it has now been re-initialized. Is there anyway possible to retrieve the messages that were in the mailbox before it got deleted?

The obvious question that comes to mind is when was your last backup? If that isn't an option then we go to a whole new level.

From an Inter-Tel standpoint I'm not aware of a way to restore the messages. From an I.T. standpoint there are options, but it depends on just how important the deleted messages are. There are ways to go in and restore deleted files from a hard drive. Once recoverd they would be in an .r24 format and would need to be converted to a .wav format to listen to them.
Part of the issue here is that you would be recovering all available .r24 files, not just the ones from that box. It would be a LOT of work.

Now there is one other possibility. I'm not sure if when the box is deleted, the numbered audio files are deleted, or if they are just marked as being available to the system software which means that the next time it needs a file, it can grab that one and use it. I know they stay for a certain period of time as you can recover messages after you've deleted them from your box. If the flag is cleared, and the message remains, then you can skip the recovery step.

In either event, this is going to be an Installer level issue and beyond the scope of what is now allowed in the Board's public forums. We can leave it here for the time being, but I'll ask that anyone who posts be very careful about disclosing any proprietary Inter-Tel information or detailed programming as that will require the thread to be moved to the Installer's Forum.
