I am a noob in this arena so please forgive me if I am asking an obvious question. I am trying configure a Electra Elite 192 to work with the SAT software.

I purchased of E-Bay a MIFM-U20 (750471) with the KMM-U20 (750731) ROM. I have installed it in the second slot of my KSU (ISA) slot. The card seems to boot up and the status lite just blinks on and then off (on for 2 seconds then off for 2 seconds). I have connected a straight thru cable to COM1 of the KSU. I have launched the SAT software and have configured it propely for the COM port that my computer is on. I have also matched the KSU's BAUD/PARITY settings (1-8-35, 1-8-36). When I try to connect in the SAT software it just sits there indefinetly trying to connect.

I have also tried the above by putting the MIFM-U20 in slot 1 of the KSU (3rd slot from the left).

When I go into 7-3 (card assignment I do not see the MIFM card).

My question is am I missing something or will the MIFM-U20 NOT work with the Electra Elite 192? When i was searching for a card I seen numerouse places stating that it was compatable with the Electra Elite 192.

Thank you in advance,
Robert.

Some CPU's just don't work with the MIFM. Not sure why. I had about 250 NEC IPK systems, and many more E192s and E48s installed between 2003 and 2009 and I would back them all up with the same MIF card I carried around with me (if the customer did not buy one). So I know the MIF was good.
Some would work every time, some would work 75% of the time and require a system reset to get a backup, and some would just never work at all.

There are really only a couple of settings to make sure the card is set correctly in the PBX.

1. 7-1 Program the card in the OA slot. Sometimes it's in slot 1 if it has a modem attached, but the OA slot works best from my experience.

2. I usually set my baud in 1-8-35/36 to 38400 N-8-1

3. When I've had issues I have set 7-3 to 01, but this usually only helps on a finicky CPU.

Use a straight through (not null-modem) 9 pin cable off of com1 off the side of the IPK to your laptop.

I have found that sometimes if you pull the battery cable on the MIF card and flip the small dip switch near the center of the card, it will clear out any previous data and allow thw card to connect more quickly.

As this is a U20 card it maybe that the jumpers need to be reset back to MIFM mode.

JP5 should not be connected (factory defaults card if it is though it may be a good idea for first use)
JP6 should not be connected (MIFM mode) If bridged the card will be in SPE/ethernet mode.

I found this in another post related to the MIFM-U20.

I am pretty sure I have SP013 V3.10.

"pretty sure you need 5.03 or higher to run u-20 cards. Also SLI B/E cards will need 9700 series software upgrade."

Can I get confirmation on this?

If so then what do I need to be able to upgrade to 5.03 or higher? I assume this upgrade is done to the CPU card?

Thank you in advance for everyone's help.

Robert.

The MIFM U2X was release in my part of the world on R3000 in August 2005 for the IPK1. Not sure how backward compatible it is but I think your chances of getting an official software update for an Elite 192 or IPK1 is about zero..

Thank you for everyone's help. I got it sorted out. I was able to swap out the CPU board with one that had 7.01 on it. Now the MIFM-U20 is regognized and working.

Thank you,
RJR
