Hello.

I was wondering if anyone had a general idea how much fiber generally cost per foot, yard, mile,etc... if purchased in large bulk quantity?

For example, if I was trying to connect 2 locations a mile a part, how much would this cost me to buy a mile of fiber cable?

Does anyone have a rough estimate on fiber line cost?

Thanks for your help.

why not decide what type of fiber you need and call your distributor for pricing

Please give me a rough idea of how much fiber cost per foot? I might want to wire my building with fiber and I want to know if its insanity expensive to do so.

We can assist you if you can at least give us something to work with, for example:

Number of fiber strands?
Single or multi-mode?
Indoor or outdoor?
Plenum or riser jacket?

Your original question is akin to asking us to tell you how much a car costs. Help us to help you.

Also we don't post our pricing in the open forums. That's like asking what we pay for a particular phone system.

I am looking for general ball park info not exact quote.

$10 a foot, $1,000 a foot, $10,000 a foot, etc....

I can tell you that cat 5 patch cable can run from $1.50-$5. That is a ball park.

P.S.

My phone system quotes were between $25K and $60K for the exact same system and I went with the lowest price and programmed it myself.

Perhaps you could tell me, I am looking for the type of fiber optic cable used to lay a network backbone for an ISP. I know for sure it will be outside and underground via conduit.

I am trying to get a very rough estimate on about what it cost for large bulk order for a possible project. I don't even know if this project is economical feasible so I need to gather some facts first.

I am trying to get an idea of what it cost to run each mile of fiber. If the cost is in the hundred, thousands, ten thousands, hundreds thousands, etc....

Do you have major connections and contacts for large bulk orders? If so, I would be interested in getting some more detail quote from you if the project moves forward however right now I am just trying to understand what is realistically feasible as far as its cost.

Thanks.

If you have to ask these basic questions then you would be far better served to get some quotes from cabling contractors in your area . the price per mile will vary depending on the terrain and other factors

while this may seem like a "large bulk purchase to you " I doubt many distributors would view it as such

As i read your posts in the various forums it is obvious you are looking at some sort of project ..... it would be easier for everyone involved if you laid it all out in one post rather than try to do bits and pieces in different forums.

We have people from all different disciplines here and you would probably get better info if we knew the scope of your project.
