OK guys, I'm needing to update a MICS system from v1 to v7. All for operational caller id to function. I ordered a cid trunk card and version 7 card with housing. When I put in the new s/w card, all sets just sit and flash on the display. Do I need to do this upgrade in stages? Seems I recall this has to be done in order! Can someone confirm this? Thanks Jr

I would default the system and go directly to 7.1. Much easier than doing a stepped upgrade.

I just did this yesterday only for a Pri You will loose all data when you upgrade and the system ID will change What I did so I wouldn't interrupt service is upgraded a second spare cabinet then programmed and swapped out the whole thing and they where down for like 10 min.
To go from 1 to 7.1 Cycle power on the phone system Do the startup procedure and when it says applying template on the screen Pull the power then insert new software power on and wait a few minutes and it should come up.

I never tried ITCOMM's idea, only way from 1 to 7 was to go from 1 to borrowed 6.1 then to 7 or 7.1 to keep all data.

For future readers the installer guide tells you exactly which tools/software to use depending on your current version. Search the PDF for "Upgrade"
I disagree that wiping out all the programming and doing from scratch would be easier, I would guess it would take much longer. Pulling amp cables off and doing 3 software swaps takes 30 minutes tops.
However if there have been issues beforehand it is then a good idea to get rid of the glitches by doing the start-up.
In your case you have to got to 4.1 then 6.1 then 7.1. I am sure you did ok either way but update when you can.
