Hello, The EVMC card of my phone system seems to be no longer powered (no light on, message "waiting for msg center" displayed on each phone). I tried powering off/on the card / phone system several times with no luck (also removed / reinserted the card). Will I get my voice processing back if I just buy another card and switch the HD? Is there any other solution available? Thanks a lot!

I'd plug a monitor on the EVMC and see where in the boot process it is hanging up. Then we can go from there.

I plugged a monitor, restarted the system and it said "verifying DMI pool data... Disk boot failure, insert system disk & press enter"

Do you even hear the disk spin when you power on?
""Will I get my voice processing back if I just buy another card and switch the HD? Is there any other solution available?"" I guess you would if the problem was the card and not the hard drive.

More often than not, it is the HD that fails.. or at least the boot tracks of the HD. If you purchase an entire EVMC card to replace, make sure the HD is flashed with the same version of AVDAP software that you have now... then after inserting and booting up the card, you can just to a database restore from your last backup and you will be up and running. If you purchase a replacement HD for your current card.. which works.. make sure you either buy from Intertel or an Intertel dealer.. so you can specify the software version... without this, you will never get the HD to work with your system.
Good luck..

Not just that Conley, but if your system version is such (I think it's below 8.0 that you have to worry about this) be sure you have the right pal chip! I'd advise removing the one from the failed card. We have been sent replacement EVMC cards with the wrong PAL chip and had the stuff go all SNAFU.
By coincidence, we were just on a call where a business' EVMC was down. It booted up the minute we hit the ENTER key. A bit later, it went back down (only to come back up a few minutes later, without any intervention from us). We heard a sickly noise, but what we thought was the HDD turned out to be the fan.
Sooo, we are going to try to replace the fan first (maybe the customer will be lucky!)

Good point with the fan, Jeff! When it dies you usually end up replacing the whole EVMC because the processor toasts itself. We now carry a couple of EVMC fan kits on the trucks because it seems like the sickly fan noise is something we hear more often than not.

Hey All I would just like to say that it is possible to recover most EVMC HD info by using a dos 6.22 boot disk or disk diagnostics utility (I prefer Spinrite myself).Just boot to floppy 6.22 boot disk and run scandisk or checkdisk (sometimes both) or run disk diagnostics utility to check for bad sectors then boot EVMC normally. Almost 90% of the time it is recovered. Bythe way great point on the fans a common EVMC issue.

Hello, It's confirmed my HD is dead. My phone system company told me to replace the entire card would be more than $6,000. They wouldn't replace the HD only. I cannot find any refurbished card. It seems HD is just a regular laptop HD, correct? How do I get it loaded with proper OS or where can I purchase HD with proper OS (or even refurbished card)? Thank you all for you help. Isabelle
