I have a prostar DCS. It has been running fine but this morning the voicemail unit stopped working. At first I thought it was the cadence vma8 unit alone. However, after sometime I had a user report their fax wasn't working. Just so happens that SLI card is in the same cabinet. Is it possible the entire cabinet went bad?

Likely to be PSU fault.

Bad power supply? PSU40 or PSU60. ALL PSU60s die, bad capacitors.

I have some, trying to get rid of everything before my move. PM me.

For temp, swap the last expansion cab. PS with the base cab. PS.

Well I have 2 psu60s and one psu40. I tried to put them in in different combinations and nothing. The Rom2 blinks, the expansion cards light up and the cadence doesn't even try to spin the drive.

I have two options either I try to get new power supplies to fire back up the switch or I try to get a compact dcs fired up to work.

I have noticed that the prostar dcs uses 25 pair cables and the compact 24 or 26 pair cables? whats that about.

The Compact also uses a 25 pair cable but obviously has a different pinout.
I have had 1 customer that has problems something like this as well on a DCS.Even had a bad Expn B card take out the second cabinet.I have also had DLI cards go bad and take the entire system down.Does your main cabinet work?

OK,
So with just the main cabinet powered up the system is still not working. What I would do is pull all the cards except the Rom card and add 1 card at a time .You may have a bad card taking down the system like I described above.

pvj is right on. I have seen shorted diodes on dli cards kill a systems 54 volts a number of times. Since you are not getting any ver info on the phones I would look at the 54 vdc as that powers the phones and even with logic issues the phones will still show ver info but not come all the way up. The phones should show ver info even if the rom card is pulled if the dli is good.

Ok I pulled every card out of the ksu cabinet. The only things in the cabinet was the psu and the rom2 card. I then put each dli card in and still nothing on the phones. I'm thinking something just died? Now I have to figure out how to get the compact dcs installed.
