have a customer with ip office essential. They want to be able to call back a customer using the call log. currently, because they have to dial a 9 for an outside line, it won't work. Is there a way around this?

I never set up my systems to dial 9 for a trunk.
I never set up extensions that begin with a 1.
I tell the customer they must dial 1+area code+ prefix + number.
If those idiots can do that, the following 2 short codes work:

XXXXXXXXXX (10 X's)
N
L/G 50

1XXXXXXXXXX (1 + 10 X's)
1N
l/g 50

I still can direct to teh ARS table and restrict numbers etc...
The short code with all X's is there because ICLID doesnt include the 1....

Thanks guys - seems they could handle this easier in a software upgrade.

Its easier in areas that have 10 digit dialing as well. As soon as the entire country moves to that, things will be better. I have no issues setting up a few short codes in Denver, since its 10 digit, but places like Montrose are still 7 digit dialing, aren't they?? So its not really a software issue on the IP office since the dialing patterns are restrictive.
