Hi, I am new to this forum and to this phone system too. I noticed that when I ring an extension it keeps ringing and does not go the voice mail. I would like to configure the system so that when the party does not answer the phone after four or six rings, it should be sent to his/her voice mail.

Thanks for your help !

What system? Ill assume you have an Axxess and I will also assume system forwarding is set up. Go to one of the phones and press the infinity key followed by 354. This is a toggle code for system forward on/off.

Hi, thanks for the reply. It is Axxess with 8560 and 8500 phones. When I tried the above sequence on a display phone (8560) it said "system forward off". I tried with both on and off on both the phones but it does not go to voice mail but keeps ringing.

Thanks again !

Okay turn forward back on. Are you talking about outside transfered calls or a call from extension to extension. In any case your going to have to get into system programming and look at the system forwarding.

Outside transfered calls go to voice mail if not answered in six rings. But, calls from extension to extension keeps ringing and never goes to voice mail. If you can give me an idea as what to do or point me to some documentation, that would be great.

I appreciate your response.

Thanks again !

There is a setting for this, I believe it is a Flag. Ironically I figured this out 6 months ago, but I can't seem to remember what I did to make it go to voicemail, and I am currently trying to figure out what fixes this as well.

Got it!
Under the following path:
System\Devices and Feature Codes\Stations\[the extension you need to change]\Forwarding Paths\[your voicemail path]

Set the "FWD CALL TYPE - IC CALLS" flag to "Yes"

I am having a similar problem on Axxess System, except it had been working - then stopped working on all extensions, except one , that has no phone connected but has a mailbox.

The rest of the extensions - on transfer through Auto Attendant OR internally ring the phone - then loop back to the auto-attendant greeting over and over.

I tried toggling System Forward too. For now - I am having them FWD ALL when they leave for the day - that works. The VM is 2500.

Same thing happens when I dial that extension (2500) or the night greeting (2503).

Dial number
Reach Auto Attendant Greeting
Dial Extension
Extension Rings
Back to Greeting - No Voice Mail Greeting

What could have changed, by itself???

Can it be programmed through the phone or must be programmed through the PC?

Thanks, in advance.

Your VM extension is 2500 and when you go to a phone and dial 2500 it doesnt ask for your ext/mbox number? Well in the voice mail i would make sure you have still have 2500 set up as the voicemail extension and that the mailboxes are still there. Also make sure the stations still have their forwarding paths assigned to the extensions and that 'forwarding paths' are set to yes in 'premium features'. If you have a monitor on your voicemail watch the screen as you you dial 2500 and see what says.
