After attempting the DISA call forwarding, look at the telephone display. It should tell you what’s happening with that station.

Also, check the station flag to make sure that manual PSTN forwarding is allowed.

Thanks for clarifying a lot of this!

So... using DISA securely requires an unused, dedicated channel ...which basically counts it out for this customer.

If I'm understanding all of this correctly... if I leave the DID I assigned to DISA in place and remove the security code from the trunk, then I should still be able to dial-in to DISA and enter 359 to do some remote programming.

Is anything else required?

It seems like I'm in the system, but as soon as I enter the password for the extension I'm trying to change I hear 5 tones, whereas every other time I hear two tones. I take it that 5 tones means something is off... because it seems to go downhill from there.

I'll try on-site as you've suggested.

It doesn't seem viable for the end-user. But, it would be nice to have available for emergency use.

Otherwise... I can access DB Studio remotely via terminal server... is there a way to forward or unforward a DID from there if I had to do it in a pinch?

Since your trunk group is pointed to a Call Routing Table, you do not need to dedicate a channel. POTS lines would be a different story.

You can change forwarding with DB Studio via On-Line Monitor, under Forward Information on the station. Be very careful with OLM, you can do real damage.

I'm not familiar with On-Line Monitor. Is it an add-on to DB Studio? If so, where I can I get it?

I figured out my DISA issue on-site. I had assumed the password for the extensions either matched the v/m password or was the extension itself... and that was not the case at all. I have no idea what they were set to, so I simply changed the passwords. Then everything fell into place.

I also see now that "on-line monitor" is there as an option in DB Studio. I've been using DB Studio for years and never realized that on-line monitor existed. Whaddya know? I'll carefully poke around in there.

Thanks for the help! You guys are great.

My users tend to find doing remote forward is easier when done over a VoIP phone extension. Most of my users that would want remote forward (either to cell or remote VoIP extension) already have a VoIP extension remote where they want it.

But it does eliminate the DISA part.

We're talking about an obsolete Axxess 5.3.

If this was a modern system, you'd use Configuration Assistant and call it a day.
