We are installing Desktop Suite this week and have a few questions we are hoping someone can answer.

1) If we have Windows Firewall enabled on the client, what ports need to be opened to communicate with the server?

2) Where does Desktop Suite store its preferences on the PC? We would like to copy from PC to PC and make the install easier.

3) Is there a silent install for the software?

Thanks!

When you open desktop suite windows firewall should present a screen pop and ask if you want to permanently unblock the ports for that program.

You will need to install a Blade in the 8100 or use a dedicated PC/Server for a shared services machine.

The client PC's communicate with the shared services server and the shared services server communicates with the PBX.

Copying the XML files will take longer than opening & adjusting the settings for each user.

There are XML files stored under the user settings folder in each client machine that store that user's preferences.

Look here:

To view all Files: XP:Open a folder then TOOLS/FOLDER OPTIONS/VIEW

Choose "show hidden files"

W7: Control panel / Folder Options

On XP -

Shared Services:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NEC-i\Shared

Services\Users\*.*

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NEC-i\Shared

Services\*.*

C:\Program Files\NEC\Cti Service\*.*

C:\Program Files\NEC\NEC Desktop Shared Services\*.ini and *.xml

Desktop Client:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NEC-i\PC

Phone\Contacts\*.*

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NEC-i\PC Phone\*.ini and *.xml

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

On Window 7

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data becomes C:\ProgramData and C:\Program Files becomes C:\Program Files (x86)
