Does anyone know of a timeline of the Samsung phone systems in order of oldest to newest( or most advance) or what phones they are compatible with?
I am trying to figure out what phone system would be better for a small business/home office.
The 50si, prostar DCS,idcs 16,idcs 100, iDCS 100, etc...
My office had a Samsung iDCS 500 system with the newer phones. I need to get a small less expensive Samsung system that is able to work with the same phone that the Samsung iDCS 500 uses without spending too much money.
If there is any particular Samsung system that should be avoided, please let me know. I think I remember someone was telling me about a system which was quickly discontinued due to problems which came before the iDCS 500 but I don't remember the model number.
Any advice would be useful or any reference to some kind of timeline of all the Samsung phone systems would be interesting.
Thanks for your help.

The iDCS500 is now obsolete. The current range are the OS7000
OS7030 is the smallest then the OS7100, OS7200S, OS7200, OS7400.
All old model handsets work on the newer systems

Anyway, what is the best of the older system to get? I basically have over 100 Falcon handset phones( the ones that work with iDCS 500 system. Here is the situation, I need something that can fit in a relatively small phone closet that is too small to fit an iDCS 500 cabinet however something that is new enough to use the Samsung Falcon phones and has Caller ID ability. Any recommendations from the older phone systems, prostar, DCS 16, idcs 100, etc... Thanks.

How many stations and trunks do you need to cover. What about voice mail or bgm/moh,pri's remote ip phones etc. What do you have aval from your old 500 that might move to another system. You need to give a more complete picture if you want some advice. The 500 has been discontinued as have all the other systems you mentioned but their are still alot aval on the gray market(used/refurbed).

The full timeline: 1- 816 2- Prostar 816 3- Prostar 56/120 4- DCS 5- DCSC 6- DCS50si 7- DCS400si 8- DCS616 9- DCS500 - Could be upgraded to OS500 with a processor swap 10- DCS100 - same as above 11- OS7100 (stateside had this one first) 12- OS7200 13- OS7400 14- OS7030
In most cases any phone from #4 up will work all the way up with the exception of 616 phones called DS24d phones, they only work on the 616 but the 616 will take Falcon(iDCS) phones. The old 7 buttons tend not to get along with the new systems, and any DCS phone v1.1 or lower is not recommended above the OS7100 systems. Generally Falcon(iDCS) phones can go all the way back to #4 if the software was right, i usually say if you can get caller ID on a DCSc(compact) you can take Falcon phones. Wifi Phones work on iDCS500s and above SMTi phones only work on 7xxx v4.50 and above i say that as a rule of thumb because if you buy them with new firmware and the system is below 4.50 they have a terrible audio delay on answering a call. Before someone says something, I didn't forget the ITP phones, i just choose to pretend they never existed.
Edit: For those curious, we still have at least 1 working version of everything listed above in our office.

Our order was
OS7200 OS7400 OS7100 OS7030 OS7200s
The DS24d are supported on OS7030 officially but work on all OS7000 (I have a customer who uses them on a OS7400 with no problem).
The ITP50xxd were crap, the ITP51xxd wern't too bad, less bugs then the SMT-i5220 handset alone

Crap forgot the 7200s.
Are you confusing the DS24d with the DCS24? The DS24d was only for the 616 and have never seen it operate on anything but a 616. Last time i tried to plug one in to anything but a 616 it blew out a DLI port on a 7100.(cutting over and forgot to unplug old phones)

This is what we know as a DS24D, it was used on the DCS816 and DCS408 systems.

This is exactly the type of thing I was looking for in order to put everything into perspective. It look like most of these phones were around 10 years ago with the exception of the # 14. Now, we need a chart of which ones have Caller ID ability LOL I have 4 phone systems but only 2 are up and running now. I have an old Tie system, Nitusko system, iDCS 100 R2, and iDCS 500 system. I see all these Samsung systems floating around but never knew exactly what was the older systems from the newer systems since many parts look almost the same. Thank you so much.
