I have a customer that has a toshiba dk280 connected to a stratagy voicemail system using alog extn ports not smdi. They
also have alog exchange lines.

The issue I have is the stratagy flash is taking about 30 -40 secs to hang up the call after the called party has hung up the call.

Its not a good set up at this site and the issue lies with their precription line which is only a single line that is set to ring an alog ext with an immed divert too vmail along with the reqd follow on id to the mailbox. The line is constantly rAng all the time so obviously they will get engaged alot but just wondered if the clear down could be improved or if iam missing something obvious in the settings. The network provider has said the clear down timer is set to the standard value. I had a look at the settings in the switch and couldnt see anything that jumped out at me. Just looking for any pointers , going back to site tomorrow. Thanks

The first thing I usually do is make sure that telco is sending a CPC (Calling Party Control) signal and that the phone system is correctly responding to it.

I test this by caling from an outside phone to a digital extension. Listen on the Toshiba phone and disconnect the outside phone.

You should hear 2 clicks about 1/2 second apart and the call should drop from the system. If I rememebr corectly, I believe the Strata DK system returns a busy signal and the display shows the CO dropped.

If you hear a click but the line does not drop, then the system may not be confiure to listen for the CPC signal. If you do not hear any clicks, then the telco may not be sending the CPC signal.

The DK manual refers to this as the AR (automatic release). Look for it in prg 15-0 to turn on detection.

Thanks for that , appreciated. Will do some more testing on next visit and look out for those clear down clicks coming from the telco.

Some telco's call it COD...Central office disconnect. As stated above, that should take care of your problem. Our Telco actually charges a monthly fee for COD. Its a must have unfortunately.

You should also make sure you have LED 15 on in prog 31 for all VM ports. This makes the KSU send the "D" tone to the VM after the CPC is recvd from the Telco, which makes the VM drop the call.
