I've just started installing some NEC equipment after suggestions from you folks. I like the DSX40 for many of my customers. I ran into a problem with one system the other day.
Calls were dropped intermentantly; all phones would go completely blank, then back on again; led on the ksu would go off, blink red or blue, solid red, etc.
I thought I had a power problem and was causing the system to reboot at random times. A friend suggested I unplug the network cable. Everything cleared up immediately! Apparently there might have been an IP conflict? And that caused the whole system to act up.
Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks. Jim

An IP/Network conflict could have caused a flood of traffic to the Ethernet port. The system has to read every packet in order to determine whether or not to process it. It's possible that the large number of packets being read and discarded could slow down the system enough to cause operational issues.

Could also be something else on the network doing a broadcast storm. Perhaps put just a notebook and the DSX on its own switch to see if it goes hokey or not.
