Customer is coming or a Nortel which has this feature when calling another extension.
Caller would receive a display update message (Busy) that the person they called is on the phone already. But call would ring threw as normal not going direct to voicmail.
Is there anyway to dupe the same feature on the IP Office?

This is just not the way an IP Office is designed to work. The closest you can come is to untick voicemail on, only assign 2 appearances, and reserve last call appearance. Then, if a user is on a call, and you call them, instead of going to voicemail, and since there are no more appearances available, it will return a busy signal.
It has been requested through Avaya's feature request procedure many times, but hasn't appeared yet...

are they just trying to see if the person is on the phone? or are they trying to get another call to go through?
