I sometimes do overlashing of OSP Fiber to existing Figure 8 copper between buildings. I have been using preformed "lashing Rods" or Tie Wraps (gasp) for this.

While in South Carlolina last weekend I noticed the traffic signal cables are overlashed with some sort of plastic or fiber looking device that is about 3 inches long used about every 2 feet. Looks like I could use these on my overlash jobs.

An internet search turned up nothing, anyone know what they are called and where to purchase them?
I know a lasher is the correct way but for short runs it is not an option for me, even Verizon has taken to tie wraps on drops or slack loops.

Try T&B Deltec cable support system. Sounds like you could be describing it.

Thanks for the tip but thats not it but it's another idea.

The ones I saw look like they are 2 or 3 turns of sprial wrap that are just wound over the cables at 2 foot intervals. They must be almost like a flat sprial spring but they look like they are made of some type of plastic.

They are on all the traffic signals on Clemson Blvd in Anderson SC. Got to stop looking at this stuff when on Vacation !!

You could use a "J" for smaller cable or "G" for larger cables lashing machine from General Machine Products. That's what we use when we over lash. It works great.
