I have a customer whose MICS (7.1) recently stopped taking calls - when CO lines are connected, there's no dialtone. Disconnect them and dialtone pops back up. It has two DS cards in it even though they only have 2 POTS lines and I've tried swapping the cards in the cabinet and moving the POTS lines to CO ports 3 and 4, but no luck so far. Beginning to think they may need a new cabinet but I'm hesitant to order one until I've convinced myself that's what it is. If I had a spare cabinet handy, I'd try it but we mostly only keep CICS parts in stock.
Any suggestions?

If you have fully checked the programming ( loop, etc.. ) have you tried connecting them to lines 31 - 34 ?

I've been over the programming a few times now, nothing jumping out at me. It's been a working site for quite some time; we only recently picked them up as a customer.
Trying lines 31-34 is my first move tomorrow morning. I'm bringing another DS card from our stock as well, just in case... I want to rule everything out before I order a new cabinet.

You could also use one of your CICS cabinets you have in stock to test their existing trunk cards to verify there's not also a problem with them.

If they only have 2 lines, do they really need a MICS? If not, and you determine that it's the cabinet, give them pricing for a CICS and a replacement MICS. Don't forget the programming charges.

Got lucky - new DS card fixed the problem. I thought the same thing Dave, but they have 21 phones... Those CICS expansion cards still command a premium. You'll be glad to hear it's all on Bix blocks though!
