Hello Everyone,

Well, I have setup an NEC Electra Elite IPK telephone system. I have 6 extensions! I know some of you said that I should get help from a professional, but now I have figured out how to get everything hooked up by myself!!!

Now, really my only question is how to I program the line keys. I have read through the Elite IPK programming manual, and I need to program an ICM key to all of my extensions. I don't know exactly how to save a memory block on a line key so that when you pick up the handset it automatically picks up ICM. Can anyone here help me?

Please, I don't need anyone here telling to get get help from a professional. Please just give me the answer that I need. I wanted to do this whole job by myself, and so far I have everything running. I just need to know how to program the line keys for ICM.

Thanks!

I seriously doubt you'll receive any help with that attitude.

No assistance from me, either. If you can't "figure out" how to accomplish what you are asking,,,,you are going to need someone that knows that switch..

Isn't that what this forum is for? What it actually appears like to me is that most people on here in the NEC forum are in fact rude. The Nortel people seem to be much more helpful. You don't have to "pay" to be on here. But this is exactly my point. For some reason I knew that a kind person couldn't come along an answer my question. It seems always that someone makes a negative comment to me. Thanks to everyone who has helped me. I really appreciate it. It seems that if no one wants to answer my question.

If you read the TOS for the board use you will find this:

3. The board is intended to assist two types of members, end users and professional telephone technicians (installers). If you are a novice or a do-it-yourself end user looking for advanced assistance with a system install, you should post your question with as much detail as possible and expect a response from a qualified installer who can take your issue off the board and answer your questions via private message, email or over the telephone. You should expect to pay a fee to compensate the installer for their time, experience and help. If the technician chooses to help you for free, that is totally up to the technician. You can also send a PM or email to any of the moderator(s) of the forum in which you need assistance if additional assistance is needed. Again, you should expect to pay for any technical assistance offered.

4. Technicians should discuss issues related to trade and business practices in the Installers forum. Posting of wholesale prices, quota information and manufacturer relationship issues are subject to being edited or removed. Posts that are not in the proper category will be moved to the proper category. As a rule, installers and interconnect business owners should post business related issues in the private installer forum.

This is not a hobbyist board. It is not Telephony 101. It is supported by professionals who donate their time to help end users with their day to day use of their systems or if you prove to be a genuine installer then you get admittance to the Installers and ProShop forum where installation tips are exchanged.

Well, after reading your posts it seems you are "acquiring" a few systems. I hope you are not installing these systems for a paying customer without certifications. I just read (really skimmed) the IPK manual (having never touched that system) and it's there in black and white. It's not like we don't try and help people, but understand there are MANY people passing themselves off as certified and legit telecom techs that do nothing good for the industry. I hope you take this as constructive rather than negative and go certify yourself. There are MANY system that allow you to do online certifications. Of course if you don;t understand wiring codes and telephony you will probably be lost for a while. Good luck!
