Hi,

We have added some new digital lines to our DK40 and for some reason the * key is not working when calling our Stratagy voicemail. The Stratagy answers but we're unable to access the voicemail to check our messages. Other phones already installed are working fine.

Did we miss something?

Any help would be great.

"Digital" lines can't be added to a DK40 unless you were using a PRi card, you most likely have a digital to analog box that delivers single line dial tone.

The old DK40s have a redial key which would be equal to the # key, but you may not have a speed dial button on one of your 10 or 20 button sets.

If you call the voicemail and dial * #, the system knows you want to dial using the * and allows it.

If you call the vm and it answers, try dialing * #, you won't hear the tones, then dial * and you should hear it.

Easy solution is to put a 497 speed dial button on each phone that needs to access vm.

It could be something else but this is my primary guess.

I think in this particular case, the term 'Digital Lines" may be refering to digital phone extensions instead of digital trunks.

A bit of an odd design on these Strata DK systems, to incorportate a voicemail system that requires a * key, but virtually disables it for a probabaly lesser used speed dial function, that they decided wasn't worthy of a permanant button on the phone.

Sorry, I meant Digital phone.
Dialing * # works, thanx.

I still wonder why the other phones only have to dial the star key tough...

I will try to put a 497 speed dial button and see how it goes...

It's because they *do* have a speed dial key programmed in the keystrip.

Learned this working on a Strata VI so many years ago I must have been right out of phone school.

Why Toshiba still holds this concept I don't know except that all NEW phones have a built in speed dial button and the problem only exists in the DK and further back KSUs.
