This has happened a few times now. On a seemingly random basis, voicemail won't connect when trying to access from any station - it just rings. If there's a new message in the box, the VMS LED blinks, so it's not completely unconscious.

Any time this has happened, rebooting the system seems to bring things back to normal, but is there 1) a more correct way to wake it up, and 2) a way to figure out exactly what's gone "wonky"? (Sorry for the overly-technical term there.) If not, I can live with the occasional reboot, but I don't like unsolved mysteries smile

You need to look at the ports and see what state they are in.
1. On the voice mail what is the port saying.. playing, waiting and if playing what is it playing.
2. Look at the phone system status monitor screen are ports off hook if not look in config screen and see if they are showing being off hook there.
Sometimes if you are using the voice mail CCR application and a caller has hung up and the CCR mailbox is told to go back to itself what happens is the ports will be tied up when in fact there is no caller there. It gets in a loop issue as the system did not see disconnect so the CCR keeps looping what it thinks is a caller back to the CCR and all ports are now off hook.
Also check each port one at a time and make sure they are all working? Of course reboot fixes until issue happens again.

Thanks for your replies, and for the offer of assistance.

The next time this happens (should be a month or so, since that seems to be the frequency of the occurrences), I'll take a look at the ports to see what state they're in.

Rgds,

Brian
