We have Access 9 and Unified Messaging 2.221 installed. One of the computers that has unified messaging started showing some wierd behaviors. We noticed that when deleting a voice message from Outlook, the message still stayed on the phone. We the noticed that the bottons on the Outlook toolbar were missing as well as the Unified Messaging options under the Tools menu in outlook. Uninstalling and reinstalling Unified Messaging does not fix the problem. We went into the registry and saw that there were several registry keys missing under the VisualMail/options folder. I exported the keys from my computer which had all of them and copied them over to the affected computer but nothing happened. To add tot he mystery, I left for Thanksgiving vacation and now my computer has the same issue.

I've read that virus protection software could be the problem for alot of unified messaging issues but I don't think that is the case here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as we are worried this will start happening with all the other computers that have unified messaging installed.

If you are using Outlook 2003 or 2002 SP1 and above, you must be careful not to enable Outlook 'Safe Mode'. Outlook will prompt a user to enter safe mode if it thinks it did shut down properly the last time or if it thinks there is something wrong w/ the Outlook databse files. Never permit this, as 'Safe Mode' doesn't seem to fix anything. In Outlook go to Help\About Microsoft Outlook\Disabled Items. Click on each item listed there and click 'Enable'. Restart Outlook when finished.
