Hi,
We upgraded to a CIX670 system and I am trying to set a One Touch button on the phone to goto a mail box on the VM system. The string I would dial from the pad is 300 * 600 # 600 #. It doesn't appear a * can by passed using a One Touch button. Is there a different character I use in place of a * ?

A One Touch repeats what you store just as if you went to that phone and dialed 300* 600# 600#, real fast with out pausing, that won't work. There are ways to do what you want but they involve system programing.

When programing a one touch key:
* + a number (1-9) is a pause for X (1-9) number of seconds ** = * *# = #

One step less to program on the one touch key would be to set up a Pilot DN that targets the VM box and use that number on your key followed by a pause and the security code.
Just a thought.

Thank you for the replies! I tried the ** in the string on both a One Touch button and a System Speed Dial, neither work. The vendor is telling me that the VM integration will not pass anything past 300 (our VM hunt group) which is why I cannot send the *. It working fine on the DK424 system, so it seems like we lost function with the new CIX system. I was wondering what the Pilot DN function was and am not finding much help in the Toshiba manuals as far as how I place the Pilot on the buttons. Anyone want to give me a quick primer? Thanks!

To create a Pilot DN that targets a VM account just create a new Pilot DN number and under Alternate Destination select "Dialing Digits". Then for alternate DN enter your VM Pilot number and then enter the account you want to target in the Voice Mail ID box.
Then you can enter the Pilot DN directly into a One Touch Key, or in the DIT of a Trunk if you want a single trunk to target a greeting other than the standard Auto Attendant.
Edit: After further thought, this probably won't work for your requirements, a Pilot DN to VM will only take you to the greeting of the VM account not the log in.

I would not worry too much about a pilot DN. This is setup in system programing and not something setup on a user level.
Some years back I tried to program a one-touch key to do the same thing, call voicemail and auto login. I was not able to get it to work corerctly. If I remember correctly, I think I was about to use program a Stop (enter *+Hold). Basically a stop will send digits then stop until you press the one-touch key again to continue.

I'd forgotten this trick! This actually does work... I used this to set up a key that would swap which greeting was playing in a particular mailbox.

To tell you the truth, I had pretty much forgotten about that as well until this thread. I did not think about using a one-touch for changing greetings. I will have to remeber that idea in the future.

Thanks for the idea, is there any documentation on programming the one touch? The Toshiba documentation did not even have the **, *#, *9. How do I program the *+Hold?
