We are in process of converting from a 20+ year old Inter-Tel Axxess System (Now Mitel)to ShoreTel. As implementation proceeds we have tied the two systems together so that the ShoreTel functions can be tested and confirmed before we formally cut over.

Although the two systems are talking to each other, neither is very happy with the arrangement.

Axxess side: Made a PRI T1 CO Trunk Group. Also pointed a dedicated DID to that trunk group.

ShoreTel side: Made a Tie-Trunk connection to the Axxess.

If I dial the Axxess DID I do connect to the ShoreTel's Auto-Attendant, after about 16 seconds of 'dead' air.

If I want to dial out from the ShoreTel side I can dial "9" to get ShoreTel System Dial Tone, but then I have to dial almost any number (1-9) + "#" to get the Axxess' outside dial tone before I can dial an outside number.

I'd like to do both more transparently.

Any have a clue as to how?

Sounds like a lot of work and effort for nothing.

Why would you buy a system if you were not confident that its' "functions" were already tested and confirmed??

Tell your Shoretel dealer to confirm the functions and install the system!

Perhaps misleading statement. We are trying to run the two systems in parallel for a while, with the Axxess still primary while we test the ShoreTel. They do some things differently.

We have to test the changes under 'live fire' condtions so our customers experience minimal bobble.

Could have upgraded to a Mitel 5000 or 3300...

How are the tie lines programmed? I remember linking an Axxess to an Avaya system years ago, and it was pretty seamless. Just need to dust off the cobwebs.

If I remember correctly, the T1 channels pulling dial tone from the remote system were programmed as OPX stations, and the channels providing dial tone were loop start. There was a trunk group key at each end to access the other system, but I do recall playing with ARS as well.
