Is it possibly to migrate the database from an NCP500 to a NCP1000, or must the programming be started over from scratch?

its the same software, as long as the cards are in the same slots I cant see any reason why.

why are you going up to 1000, are you looking to have extra extensions with an option card as well

Customer currently has a NCP500 running 4.1 software and is out of digital station ports. I was told if I upgraded to 6.3, then I could add a 2nd DLC16 card to the system. However, everytime I try to upgrade the registration fails and the DLC16 card currently in the system will not go INS.

I am going to try the upgrade again and try to figure out why the card is not going INS and the registration fails, but in talking with the customer and future needs the NCP500 may not be large enough. I am hoping that if we need to go to NCP1000 that I can migrate the programming, but Panasonic told me that it wasn't possible....but I am not sure I have a lot of faith in the phone contact I was speaking with. That is why I wanted to see if anyone here had attempted it.

I think not. Use IP to expand?

If you can get it to v5 it will allow extra card.
We don't have to register our system here. Once you are a dealer you can get the software and upgrade without re-registering the unit

When I do the upgrade here is what I am doing:

1. Power down KSU and remove SD card
2. Backup contents of SD card to my laptop.
3. Overwrite existing software w/ new software on the SD card.
4. Insert SD card into the KSU, move to the initialize position, and power up.
5. Once run light starts to flash, move to Run position.
6. I can confirm that I am at the new software level, and my database has been initialized. However, DLC16 card in slot 5 is OOS.
7. Do a file transfer from PC to PBX and reboot the system.
8. Still tells me I need to register and the DLC16 is still OOS.

Am I missing a step here that I am not thinking of?

That is where I am stuck. It does not like my new registration file. This is my first try with a NCP upgrade. I will speak with support again and see if I am following procedure correctly.

I'm sure tech support is right. Go up to the 1000, it's a good chance for the customer to upgrade for the future. I would backup the 500, open that file on one PC, with another PC, program the 1000 page for page while looking at the old 500 file. It shouldn't take too long, no voice mail, can't be that many extensions.

I agree with 94astro, I would just program from scratch. Allot of good tech time has been wasted on software issues. Best of luck!
