It seems the internal "intercom" dial tone is the same tone one gets when seizing a CO line. Is it possible to set this thing up so the internal dial tone is different?

Yes you can change dial tone if you have the maintenance tool with full admin rights password but you would need to know what you were doing.

That's great. Our installer doesn't know how to make that change. I have the software and the installer password......might you be able to tell me how to do it??

Look under 2.System 9. System Options then Option tab 3. Look for Dial Tone for Extension. Then select Type B.
