5000-00 w/IN5021-01 V4.15 Basic Programming Module (605 says it is running v4.15), with 3x8 digital card and 3x8 analog card, and the modem. box of 30 button phones (and they do work just fine on it, picked the combo up together some years back)

What hardware would I need to add in order to pickup caller-id with this?

Voicemail:
Can a DHD-04 / 303-04 / DL/CKT/DOY/DIGITAL be attached?

I was looking at the VM unit some months back when trying to troubleshoot a similar unit, seems I have misplaced a couple screws and the 3.5-2.5" adapter for the hard drive (not an issue). Tried to fire up the laptop with the software on it at the time, and the windows 98 toshiba no longer powered on, i fear that it was among the laptops the idiots that broke in just before christmas took, as it wasn't "broken" looking, so now I also need to ask if I need special software or just a terminal to touch it?

This is going in my home office, and the other option is to pair with the XTS the Voicemail came with, but I don't need the 48 extensions etc that mess came with.

The Voicemail user admin software you need is available on my website. You need at least two free digital ports to attach the voice mail unit. To have caller id you need a plug in 2 port serial module for the 5000 and a caller id box part number cid-9. The cid-9 is easy enough to get, I have a spare, but good luck finding the serial mod. I would use the XTS over the 5000 regardless of how big it is. Caller id can be added to it (if it doesn't have it already) with a simple co board change and a software upgrade, depending on the version it is running now.

Thank you Derrick!

Neither of the LCOBC's in the XTS have a CIDU on them.
After wiping the database it does now see a phone on 100.
Version of the XTS is: English V1.14-2FE2 Infinite Basic.
Of course then I might need to add an SLIBE....

Maybe I don't need CID that bad on those lines.

To get Caller Id you need an LCI card with the cid daughterboard...cheap and easy to get and upgrade to at least 2.26. I suspect the mpb board is so old that you can't upgrade to anything newer than that.

The XTS is going to sit on the shelf a little longer, as the 5000-00 was already on the wall, and has SLI ports to run the existing house phones. Got the Voice Mail to work, well mostly.

-Delete a mailbox, recreate it, box still has the greeting and name, is there a way to cause these to go away or do I need to login and remove the recording for each?

-Ok, just figured out that they existing AA which is a Menu, seems to actually be a "Time Control" that points to the menu so now I assume that if I want a 2nd AA I put 1 or more ports into 441 and set a unique time control to a unique menu, and that makes a second AA right, put the coverage on the other CO port(s) to 441 and those calls hit the alternate AA?

And I also just found the page in the manual mentioning that last name is the name it is doing name lookup by, so if you want first name lookup you put the first name in the last name box (I had figured out that this worked, but before I did something to remove all the usernames, I hadn't noticed they were first names in the last name box), as the AA recording talked one through doing first name lookup.

The only way to dump the old greetings and names is to reinitialize the voice mail. This is done with e-com software at the command prompt.

Aha! Ok, nothing like trying to make sense out of 2 different versions of 250 page manual at 1 in the morning. Both of which mention a battery compartment that the unit doesn't have, and are written in "Vodavi" which is very similar to "ASUS" the stuff is there its a matter of finding the right keyword, else it doesn't exist.

Ok, I can probably figure out the important settings and do it from scratch, that would likely fix a number of things, if there is a default menu prompt out there does it put it back? Would making sure I have an empty mailbox and creating the new ones using it as a template build empty mailboxes (I should try that, since I'm in a place where I'm not going to break anything, since I can still nuke and pave).

Thanks!

Ok, I was looking at Lines, and changed one from KSU Clock Control, how does one get back to KSU Clock Control, I'm not seeing it mentioned in the manual, nor does it seem to be on the list.

In the ADMIN program, select voice lines, then pick the line (port) you want to change, then select another option from the list, then click OK. You will need to reboot the voice mail after you make these changes in order for them to take effect.

Ed: That what I did, I chose an option wanted to go back to KSU clock control (for the moment) but even after a reboot I don't see that on the list, and choosing NONE gets me an error about needing to choose a command file.
