Hi gang, usually my buddy Oobie does all the posting on here but I thought I'd reach out myself on this one I have a client that needs 9 wireless handsets and they are already using the digital DECT phones with the repeaters and they don't like them and have lots of issues(this is on an ESI system that uses the same phone for DECT as NEC). I'm looking at replacing the ESI system with an SV8100 and was wondering about the ML440 system...anybody have an opinion on those based on actual intallations? Thanks Timbo

Anything with repeaters has to be laid out carefully and within it's design parameters. Sometimes a lot of testing. I believe Panasonic has best cell type system.

yes the big problem with the DECT phones they have now is that there are 3 repeaters for each handset so 3 X 9 handsets = 27 repeaters! My techs think we are just not able to adequately space the repeaters so they interfere with each other and cause issues. The one thing that is attractive about the ML440 system is that the repeaters (or cells) can support multiple handsets so we would not need near as many and should be able to space them better...I just wondered if anyone has used this system and what the user experience has been. I want to be able to interface it with an 8100 so I don't really like the idea of a third party product like Panasonic or even Engenius. Thanks for the reply brokeda!

What issues are they having? That is a LOT of repeaters.

well again this is on an ESI system...not NEC...but it's the same model of phone and repeaters that the basic DECT system on NEC uses... They biggest issue is that the handsets lose registration to their base/repeaters quite often (if I understand our techs correctly). They also have other issues and some fundimental dislikes about the ESI system in general so we are looking at moving them to an SV8100. I just want to avoid putting in another wireless system that they will not like. They also have about 40 digital ESI sets now that they are not crazy about

Wireless phones are finicky. You have to really test coverage and in my experience the Digital DECT is far far better than IP DECT. You are far better off with more bases less repeaters IMHO.
