I'm in an area where everyone knows to call me on any telephone problem they have and most phone guys have retired or left this area. I have a customer with a Inter-Tel Encore CX system that 'all of a sudden' they lost there outside PA system, but not paging from station to station. They went through there regular buttons they push to get to the paging with the PA amplifier only to get a fast busy over their PA and had the power source unplugged from speaker horns so the fast busy would quit. (Later while working on this I found out this happened 6 months ago and they couldn't find anyone to work on it) After looking in the programming, I saw where there PA system extension was some how moved to a working station named Randy. Which was now out of service at Randy's desk. The PA system power source went to position 8 on the second card in system. Which should be the 15 station, or 35, since first station is 20. I've moved the PA system programming back to where it was on the system , on station 35, and page out on PA system, it'll work fine 1 time. But then after they hang up the speaker horn will not release the page and goes to a fast busy, like an extension not hanging up. All 4 horns do this with one or all plugged up. I can unplug the power source from position 8 on card and page PA and it just rings untill I plug it back in, then the same thing happens. I've moved PA amp to position 7 on second card and same thing happens. I've disconnected all PA speakers and hooked up new one at the 66 block and it just rings and will not answer page. I've looked back into programming and the station that the PA is assigned to, 35, does not show up in the programming station list, which its not suppose to. Any help will be appreciated.

Sounds like a corrupted database. 2 suggestions: 1) upgrade to the latest version 9. 2) the repack the database be hand. I know the re-keying the entire database sounds like a lot of work but you won't believe how many times re-keying has fixed a weird system issue for me. Don't beat yourself up on the programming. I have been through that. Make a back up on another PC. Use another PC to re-key after you do a "First start Up" in the systems. Make sure you default it. then repack it. Let me know how that turns out. I have been documenting other sites that have success after re-keying. By the way, what version is the system?
Inter-tel Axxess, Mitel CS/HX5000, MiVoice Office CCS/CSM, VPU, EM, ATM4, A+, CTP+, NET+, OAISYS, Audicodes, Polycom, Spectralink, NEC Red, Samsung, Mitel Call Recording, Mitel MBG, MiVoice Office, Xarios. Mitel Phone Manager

Thanks for the reply C&S... They closed up for vacation time for over a week so didn't get back on this for a while. But when I did, I had more time. After testing 3 of the 4 PA speakers bad, one of the power lines feeding 2 speakers was shorted out, all the above mentioned programming changes, the new one still would not answer. But with all the other physical trouble repaired, that was an easy find and fix in programming. Apparently someone got into the system and tried to fix the PA system after a power surge messed up the lines and speakers. You know what happened then..
