Have a V2.00 XTS with MPB1, 2 dtib, 3 slib, cli8,prib and vm. All CO lines are now on the PRI. Customer has reported that intermittently customers can not call in, will just get dead air (no ringback) and the phones do not ring. Customer is able to call out on the PRI during this time although this will drop out sometimes also.
Have had ATT out to site and could see calls coming in to the TBerd.
Have replaced the PRI card.
Most recently moved the new card to another slot in the cabinet to rule slot issue out.
Customer called this afternoon that issue has recurred, but doesn't appear to be as prevalent as in the past.
Would my next step be to swap the MPB?
Or does anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks in advance.
John

This is not necessarily a bad mpb issue.
First question: Is this a combo PRI card? If so how old is it? Second question: Who is the PRI provider and more important what type of CO equipment is providing the PRI? Third question: Are you syncing the pri clock from the provider network? If not you should.
Last thing. This is not a mpb hardware issue, but version 2.00 had some high speed bus (backplane) timing issues that could adversely affect a PRI and Inskin PF voicemail. I highly recommend you upgrade to 4.0 if your MPB is new enough to do that. IF it isn't than you should upgrade to 2.26 at the very least.

Sounds like timing issues to me.

I've seen this before. For some reason, one or more B channels on the PRI end up locked out. In the last instance, it was the third one that was out of service. This caused inconsistent incoming call trouble since it wasn't detected until the third call tried to arrive. I've gone in through CONFIG and performed a manual reset of the affected channels and that usually fixes it. I have no idea how this happens.
On one (and I really mean only one) DVXplus system, we actually had a bad PLLU. I never would have believed it, but we replaced it and never heard another word about it.

Update: So far it looks like it was the locked-up CO port that was causing the issue. Checked thru CONFIG and it showed in service but direction was "disabled", did a reset, and reprogrammed in FLASH40 to incoming-outgoing.
Monitored a few test calls and didn't seem to have any issues and customer has not received any notice of calls not going through as of 4pm.
Derrick and Brokeda: Failed to mention in original post, this system has been in place for a number of years with the same setup. But the card is getting clocking from the telco-AT&T.
Thanks to all. John
