My customer has a 1st gen 1u MAS running Windows XP. They need to upgrade it to an OS that is still supported. Does anyone know if I can upgrade the server to Windows 7?
Calling the local Toshiba dealer is not an option... long story.

I dont have access to any new Toshiba equipment and the customer wont deal with the local Toshiba dealer because they got burned in the past. They are going to a different PBX if we cant get them upgraded. Its a bummer because they have about 30 new IP phones along with a MAS that is licensed out the wazoo.
I know someone has done this before.

From my documents:
Requirements for Field Upgrade
The system must be a Rev. 3 MAS (MAS-2U-XPPRO-R3)
Windows 7 upgrade kit (MAS-R3-WIN7UPGR) must be purchased Purchase the necessary number of 1GB memory (RAM-1GB-MAS-R3) to increase the MAS configuration to 4GB. To upgrade the MAS to Windows 7, the system must have 4GB of RAM. The MAS-2U-XPPRO-R3 has four memory slots. Depending on the configuration originally purchased, 1GB (1GBx1) or 2GB (1GBx2) is typically installed.
Although the upgrade can be done without the spare Hard Disk (Drive MAS-SATA-HDD) included in the Windows 7 Upgrade kit, Toshiba strongly recommends that you keep the existing working system in case there is any problem with the upgrade.
From your OP if it's a R1 my guess would be no to the upgrade. One thing is for sure, you cant do this without a Toshiba Dealer. And why spend all the money on a how old PC? and the big kicker: Please be aware that some applications are not supported.
If you have to, call Toshiba and look for a new dealer but my guess is the new dealer is going to suggest IPedge App Server.

Does anyone know if licenses can be moved over? This customer spent almost $25k on this MAS. They probably got raped on the price, but it is what it is.

I don't know for sure, but typically Toshiba licenses can be moved from one system/voicemail to another. I have had to migrate ports from one IES to another before.

They may have to get current with their maintenance before Toshiba will move the licenses to another server.
Taske and ACD still do not run on IPedge
It appears that the upgrade to Windows 7 involves a hard-drive swap, but last I checked (and mentioned above) only a MAS R3 is supported to be upgraded. It s likely the drivers are pre-loaded and only support the latest version.
They are shipping new the new MAS servers with Windows 7 or Windows server 2008.

We are in a similar boat. Where can I order the MAS-R3-WIN7UPGR Part?
