Hello,
We are thinking about upgrading our Avaya IP office system from IP403 to IP406v2 to accommodate the newer 1600 series phones. Is their a difference in sound quality between the 4600 series (4606, 4610, 4620) and the 1600 series phones?
Thanks.

If you are upgrading, why not go w/ the current IP500V2?

If you are upgrading, why not go w/ the current IP500V2? My thoughts exactly....Why would you "upgrade" only to put another piece of hardware in that is already discontinued?

The IP406v2 is new enough to support the 1600 series phones. There are multiple reasons we are not looking at an IP500v2. 1) They are too expensive for us right now. Yes, ideally we would get the newest piece of technology out there, however we cannot afford it. We recently got some new computers and that wasn't cheap. 2) On 4.2-5.0 no IP endpoint licenses are needed. We again can't afford for something this new right now at this point.
All I would like to know is if the 1600 series phones on the IP406v2 would be clearer (less static, excess noise, etc.) The 4600 phones have quite a bit of this, making them not the best to use.
Thank you.

The 1600 series phones are IP. The only way you are going to get static/noise on them is if you have a bad handset/coil cord. Same goes for the 4600 series. IMO.

Sounds like you maybe having a bandwidth problem. 1600 series are not helping with too little bandwidth.
