We have hundreds of customers with the Mitel 5000 HX v4.0, v5.0, v5.1, and v6.0 systems. Many opted not to go with Software assurance. We did not really push it because Mitel has done so little with the 5000 over the past several years (1 new feature in 2 years). The 5000 is a very reliable system however we sometimes flash cards becoming defective. There are issues taking an unused 6.0 flash card and downgrading it to a lower revision. It was my understanding it was just a dumb card until the license was attached. Is there another solution besides upgrading all these customers to the v6.0?

Interesting you brought that up. Yesterday I upgraded a 4.0 to 6.0. Forgot to check the flash card. It was a 512 MEG. Another company sold it. I have never put a version 4 in at anything less than a 1 GIG. So I broke it. Could not back up to version 4. Ended up installing a 2GIG to save my A#$. However, had a sight that was going to be a 6.0 5K but has 4 Axxess nodes in the network and because Mitel said "wasn't supported" we downgraded the flash card to 5.1 and it works fine. I get why the 6.0 going to 4.0 on the 512meg flash card failed but I know for sure that going from 6.0 to 5.1 works just fine. Finally got the word from our friends in Canada. 6.0 was never tested and they told me it does work with a 6.0 5K to Axxess.
One last thing. I am going to curse myself for this but 100s of Mitel 5000 and NO BAD FLASH cards yet!

We have had 2 out of 145 flash cards fail. FYI networking 6.0 to axxess 8.x works but is not supported by Mitel. We have several sites that are IP networked this way.
