Hello, I am in need of a new portable hand held label printing machine. Old one was a basic P Touch that worked fine. I would like the replacement to be more advanced and able to make different sizes of labels. Was hoping for suggestions from others in the Telecom field that are happy with the machines they use. Are there any that would make very small number label that could be installed on the tabs of a 66 block?? Sharpie markings do not seem to last any more. Thanks!

I use a P Touch to make position labels for 66 blocks. I don't remember the size of the tape off the top of my head, but it has a nice tight fit. I use a wider tape to make cover labels.
I don't think that a tape exists that is small enough to fit the tabs.

I have used a P-Touch 2610 for years and it has every feature you can think of. QWERTY keyboard, Connects to your computer and has it's own powerful labeling program. Downfall is the laminated labels don't wrap around cables very well and delaminate rather quickly. You also have to figure out all of your own templates for different stuff.
My new toy is a Dymo Rhino 6000 Label Printer. This is the brand that makes labeling cables and equipment a snap. Many manufactures make templates for their equipment for it. It does everything my P-Touch did and more. I bought the hard case kit and a bunch of label cassettes from Labelcity.com for under $300 delivered. The hard case kit was going for around $179.00 if I remember correctly.

Love my Rhino 6000. Very sturdy machine and built for rugged use. I also carry a Brother P-Touch 2730 for general labeling.
