Well, Derrick, you are fortunate because Microsquish is bringing back the traditional start menu screen in the next update of Win 8.1.
Our shop basically standardized Win 7 simply to make the systems the same. I have one XP machine that I use for some telephone system programming because that is what works. Since it is not connected to the internet, I feel it is relatively safe for the time being. I also read that some third parties will maintain virus/malware updates for XP for the foreseeable future.
