Hey guys, I have a customer that has some odd voice mail issues like station greeting recordings showing up on other users...They swear they are not recording them wrong..The customer wants me to come out and look at it. I figured to make things easier I would default the voice mail and reprogram it. I cannot find any documentation on how to do that. Could someone please send me in the right direction?

*EDIT*
I think I found my answer in the installation guide
"NOTE: MBU SW1-4 and SW2 control the protection of recorded messages."

If this is the case can I default the entire system and reload a database backup? Or do you think I should just reprogram it? We are talking like 8 phones at the most....

Thanks

Hang on awhile. I believe that there is a code to reset the voice mail without having to default the whole system. I can't remember what it is but someone here knows it.

Did you also verify the firmware version of the SBX and that of the VMIB prompt version? If you upgraded an older 2.x or 3.0 system to 3.5-4.0 you need to make sure the prompts were upgraded as well.

Just making sure that was checked before you resort to the defaulting.

CMM Thanks for the tip, we have not upgraded anything on this particular system...

Derrick, I now have the method for resetting the vmib.

Thanks everyone!

Jctsphone, what "method" were you able to find to initialize the vm only? Did it also delete the recorded greetings? I only see how to initialize the entire system, but even that doesn't erase ccr greetings or personal greetings.

Can anyone update this thread? I cannot connect to the VMIB to initialize it. Hyperterminal to with port 5003 does not connect.

The admin software has a maintenance port that might be easier to use than Hyperterm.

I have located the correct info. Use Hyperterminal, TCP/IP Winsock connection to the IP Address of the SBX using port 23. Per Toni at Vertical.

Derrick, edit as necessary if you want to remove Toni's name or the password. Here is the exact info I received from her and it worked easily.

Use remote diagnostics or hyperter to connect to ip addy on port 23
