I am wondering about UM compatibility with Outlook 2007. We have UM running on several computers with Outlook 2003, but are having trouble getting it to work with Outlook 2007. We haven't upgraded very many users to OL2007, but it will be an increasing problem as time goes on.
Axxess version: 8.20 Unified Messaging Server version: 1.005 Unified messaging client version: 2.212
Any help would be appreciated.

The UM client is not compatible with Outlook 2k7 and Inter-Tel is not going to develop a compatible version of the UM client. YOu will need to upgrade your VPU to Enterprise Messaging and utilize the new UM/OSE which is an open standards edition. With V1.1 + of EM, it provides for IMAP4 compliant email client connections to the mail store.

Would this be a chargeable upgrade? Is the functionality similar to what my current UM provides?
Thanks for the info. Dan

I dont know about charges but I would suspect that there is a promotion going. As far as functionality it is quite a bit different in practice but the result is the same. There is no software to install which is a great thing as all the issues with Inter-Tel's UM has been related to Outlook SPs. Basically EM becomes an IMAP server and you simply configure an IMAP service within Outlook to view the mailbox store on EM. Faxing is a geat bit differnet mainly that there is no print driver anymore. EM runs IIS with a fax web page where you upload your fax doc and configure the send to and coverpage options. The kicker is that the fax has to be in pdf or tiff format before you upload the file. PDF support must be licenced for a fee as a side note.

You will not be able to use the IMAP functionality w/ your current voicemail. You would have to upgrade to the Enterprise Messaging server for that functionality.

I asked our local branch this question. Here is the official Inter-Tel reply.
Inter-Tel’s current Unified Messaging offering relies heavily on client software running with Microsoft Outlook. As a result, it is sensitive to unforeseen changes in the client environment including the operating system, Microsoft Outlook, and other Outlook utilities. After years of repairing the resulting problems, Inter-Tel has completely rebuilt Unified Messaging from the ground up to avoid the incompatibilities resulting from changes in the client software environment. The new version represents a major departure from a proprietary “fat client†implementation to a client-less standards-based implementation. The new Unified Messaging (Open Standards Edition) is currently available.
With the new version in the pipeline, Inter-Tel will not further invest in making the existing Unified Messaging client compatible with Microsoft Vista or Microsoft Outlook 2007. Inter-Tel advises its Unified Messaging customers to delay migrating to Microsoft Vista or Microsoft Outlook 2007 until they have upgraded to the new Unified Messaging (Open Standards Edition).

We are currently running version 11(which I was told is the latest and greatest).
Inside DB Studio it is called "Enhanced Integration". This connects to your email server's IMAP server(assuming you have it running). So you do not setup Outlook any differently, the emails just come to your main email account, none of this 2 account stuff anymore, which is VERY nice. However I am noticing that sometimes when I delete a voicemail inside Outlook it is not deleting it off of my phone, then of course the phone sends it again later, sometimes this happens over and over again.. I am running Exchange 2007, and am wondering if maybe I am doing something wrong. Everything seems to work just fine for about 30-45 minutes or so then starts breaking.. I tried about every different combo of timeouts in DB studio and inside Exchange's IMAP settings.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you!

There is a work around of sorts. If you install UM on Outlook 03, you can then do an upgrade to 07. The settings will follow.

The new unified messaging does not need any settings applied at the client level, so why would an Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007 upgrade even matter?
This isn't the version that requires you to setup an additional IMAP account in Outlook.

Unified Messenger is an application installed on the client PC. Unified Communicator is a separate product. Is this what you mean?
