I have a situation where a threat was left in a district att. mailbox IES32 NT we do not have UM turned on. I have located and downloaded the .VOX file in question. I need to convert it to a WAV format. I remember their being a command line converter but can't seem to find it (probably getting my voice mails confused)does anyone know of a program that will convert .VOX to .WAV ??

The software I like to use to convert, edit, and play called Wavepad. They have a paid with a trial and a free version
https://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/

I use it more often to convert customer's WAV files to the correct VOX format for Toshiba Stratagy.

Thanks for the response, you don't happen to know the proper format/sample rate for a IES32-NT message. I've tried a bunch of options and all I'm getting is garble

You could also try using the Import Raw Data option on the free audio software called Audacity. Also, judging by the last post in the forum thread I linked to, you may be able to import the files normally after installing a specific plugin.

Its great software (FREE), and I use it frequently to make my Asterisk IVR prompts.

Here's a forum listing about .vox files:

https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=25698

And here's where to download Audacity:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/?source=directory

Good luck!

Scott

Edit: I found this Wiki page that will help you with the proper sampling rates.

I was going to mention Audacity, as I have used that when converting WAV files for other systems, but I when I looked it did not seem to support VOX files. I have always used Wavepad for those files.

I was going to say G711 uLaw, 8000 mono, but that is apparently only for the greetings. The messages are stored as Dialog ADPCM 8000 mono ( as previously mentioned)
