Setup: DSX-80, PRI, 23 channels, 8-port Intramail, 14 handsets. Incoming calls go directly to Intramail and than voicemail, calls are never answered by human. Dedicated employees check voice mail, create shorter version and distribute it between sales Reps or CSR. Changing the way they handle calls is not an option.
His bottleneck is 8 ports Intramail.
Does it make sense to install one more DSX system and split incoming calls between them? It feels wrong for some reason and I dont have a solid plan yet on how to accomplish that, but I see potential benefits such as redundancy, utilizing of existing handsets, no downtime during upgrade. Any thoughts?

Upgrade to sl1100 or larger NEC. SL has 16 ports and is much cheaper than DSX.
DSX going away.
