I remember several folks mentioning that this cabinet and the phones were end of life and no longer being made so we're just on distributor stock now.

Can someone point me to something official that reflects this?

Thanks

NEC has not announced end of life for the DSX series, some of us have posted that we see it coming soon.

All versions of IntraMail and IntraMail Pro will also continue to be available and of course, you can continue to order any of the DSX licenses.

Lastly, as supplies of the digital 34-Button Telephones have become limited, the two DSX-40 “Residential System Kits” (p/n 1091026 & 1091027), which include the 34-Button Telephones, are now only available while distributor inventory lasts.

Please contact your NEC Authorized Distributor for the availability of specific DSX products.

So this seems to be more related to DSX80 rather than 40.

Thanks for the information brokeda!

At this point, I think I'm going to start looking for SL1100 since once the dominoes begin to fall on legacy hardware, they tend to follow suit on related items.

Seems like the announcements have been made more to the suppliers and not to all of the resellers - I've got the runaround from my NEC rep for a couple of years now - "I can't say yes or no as to whether the DSX is being discontinued", but my Teledynamics rep just told me a few weeks ago that they were told the entire line was being discontinued and that no new orders would be processed - existing stock was all that is left.

It would surely be nice if they would get their ducks all in a line. The whole yes/no situation really puts me on edge as to whether I should be looking for another product altogether.

I know the DSX has been out there for a long time but who's to say they wouldn't end up doing the same yes/no crap with it's replacement?

Carl,
Your "ding, ding" is absolutely on target that two years ago when they raised the price it was to discourage those that sell the DSX and move onto the SL-1100. We had the unfortunate experience of installing a SL-1100 when it first came out , it was a nightmare to say the least smile. About a year ago, we gave it a second look, reason was, like any new product, over time they fix things. IMHO and my techs, the SL-1100 is a real slick awesome product. I am not sure why anyone would still sell the DSX? I will say though, I personally like the DSX phone instruments. better than the SL-1100
